Letter from the Secretary-General

Distinguished Participants,

It is with immense pride and enthusiasm that, as Secretary-General, I invite you to the 19th annual Oasis International School Model United Nations Conference (OISMUN XIX), taking place on October 26, 27, and 28, 2026, at École Oasis Internationale in Zahraa El Maadi, Cairo, Egypt.

For nineteen years, OISMUN has provided young people with a platform to explore international relations, diplomacy, and global affairs. As the first bilingual Model United Nations conference in Egypt, OISMUN allows delegates to debate in both English and French, bringing together participants from diverse linguistic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

OISMUN is proudly affiliated with The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN), one of the world’s most prestigious MUN organizations, as well as MUN Impact, reflecting our commitment to the values and Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. Our collaborations with UNFPA, Shabab Balad, and Bekia further reinforce our dedication to youth empowerment, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability.

Organized by a team of more than 70 dedicated students, OISMUN XIX is expected to welcome approximately 600 participants from schools across Egypt and abroad. Throughout the three-day conference, delegates will engage in meaningful debates, negotiations, and discussions concerning some of the most pressing issues facing the international community, including nuclear regulation, cybersecurity, sustainable development, human rights, and post-conflict recovery.

Participants will have the opportunity to debate in a diverse range of English, French, and Junior committees, each designed to challenge delegates to examine complex international issues, defend their countries’ positions, and develop realistic and collaborative solutions. Our Junior Committees will also give younger delegates the opportunity to discover Model United Nations and develop their confidence in a supportive yet intellectually stimulating environment.

The conference’s opening ceremony and committee sessions will be held on the campus of École Oasis Internationale. OISMUN XIX will then conclude with a memorable closing ceremony at the Pyramids, celebrating both the achievements of our delegates and Egypt’s extraordinary cultural heritage.

Participating in OISMUN XIX will allow you to strengthen essential skills such as public speaking, negotiation, critical thinking, leadership, and diplomacy. More importantly, it will give you the opportunity to exchange ideas with like-minded young people, form lasting friendships, and contribute to discussions that extend far beyond the walls of the committee rooms.

In case of any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me at secretary-general@oasisdemaadi.com.

On behalf of the entire OISMUN XIX team, I look forward to welcoming you to Cairo in October for three unforgettable days of debate, diplomacy, and collaboration. Together, let us prove that when young people choose dialogue over division and unity over isolation, they possess the power to shape a more peaceful and cooperative world.

Best regards,

Nadia A. Abouhashish
